Present at the event were district representatives, including Mr. Jean Marie Vianney Kabirigi, the Project focal person for Burera District, Mr. Jean de Dieu Nizeyimbabazi, Director of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the staff of KungaBu, led by Ms. Pacifique Isimbi, the project manager, and Butaro Sector representatives including the Agronomist, the Veterinary, DASSO and the beneficiaries.
The residents of Biyove Village, who received pigs and sheep, were urged to responsibly care for their animals. They were specifically advised to keep them in well-constructed enclosures, ensure enclosure cleanliness, and prioritize to combat malnutrition and childhood stunting with balanced diets. They were also reminded that the distributed animals are intended for breeding and manure production to directly enhance the advancement of their farming, emphasizing that they should not be sold.
Today’s event marked the achievement of the target numbers for small livestock animals to be distributed under the Project, also ensuring that every household in the Village of Biyove receives at least one animal.
Financed by the EU Rwanda Delegation, and jointly implemented by Burera District and ARECO-Rwanda Nziza, the three-year Project of KUNGAHARA Burera (KungaBu) aims at boosting food production in the Kamiranzovu marshland area and improve livelihoods of local communities.
